implied placement – a hypothetical astrological position that I have assigned to any one of the 16 types to better explain it’s motives and behavior.
Example: INFJ has an implied Scorpio Moon position. A Scorpio Moon is one of many possible astrological positions or placements.
This may be contrasted with an actual placement, which occurs in an astrological chart at a given time and place, such as a person being born when the actual astrological position was occurring.
Implied placements do not assume that a person of a given Myers-Briggs type must have been born at a time when any of the actual positions were occurring in order for them to be that type.
For example, an INFJ could have been born at a time when none of the actual positions were occurring (such as a Scorpio Moon), however, they will still have an implied Scorpio Moon if they are an INFJ. In fact, their actual Moon position is likely to be something other than Scorpio, just by statistical chance.
In other words, an implied placement is not determined by the astrological birth chart’s actual positions. Nor is a person’s Myers-Briggs type determined by their astrological birth chart in any way.
However, any of the positions that can occur in an astrological chart are highly useful as symbols or archetypes that succinctly sum up the motives and behaviors of any given Myers-Briggs type.
