For the Kiersey category of NF, the astrological Neptune has arisen in my mind as symbolizing that class so perfectly that they are more or less saying the same thing.
There are four Myers-Briggs types that belong to the NF class: INFJ, ENFJ, INFP, ENFP. Each particularizes Neptune per an implied placement in one of the four angular houses of an astrological chart. The four angular houses are where planets are strongest.
By this logic, I assign each of the 4 members of the NF class to an implied angular placement of Neptune as follows:
INFJ = Neptune in 1st house * link to Dream Self article *
INFP = Neptune in 4th house * link to Dream Sanctuary article *
ENFJ = Neptune in 7th house * link to Dream Lover article*
ENFP = Neptune in 10th house * link to Dream Career article *
Wherever Neptune is placed in an astrological chart, there is a dream of heavenly perfection, a longing, a seeking, a dreaming of a redemption.
The NF types are what is meant by Neptunian types in astrological speak. These are the true Neptunians and this is where we should look to understand how Neptune in a person, not a person with Neptune strong in their birth chart (by an actual angular placement), unless they are an NF type.
For example, let’s say an ISTJ or ESTJ has a strong Neptune in their birth chart. We would be expecting them to be poetic and dreamy and intuitive. Well, they won’t be. For an ISTJ, they might be, but they are going to be primarily Saturnian in temperament, and Saturn and Neptune are very different in vibration.
Conversely, any person who is an NF type will behave in a Neptunian way even if their Neptune is weakly placed in their astrological birth chart.
So, for astrologers or astrological students, take note – if you want to understand what a 4th house Neptune, for example, looks like, you need to study INFPs, who have this implied placement, not people that have it as an actual placement in their birth chart.
The general rule is that the implied placement is qualitative and the actual placement is quantitative.
An actual placement may be strong in a quantitative sense, but be weak qualitatively (if the person is a far temperament from that planet as in the case of ISTJ/ESTJ and Neptune).
In essence, if you want to know what the person is truly like, then you must study their MB type. If you want to understand the conditions of their earth life and their environment, their clothes, so to speak, then study the chart.
