The following is the continuation of an interview with me on the subject of astrology from a reader that had questions about my method of interpreting astrological charts. In this 3rd installment, I do an example birth chart interpretation using Donald Trump’s chart.
What do you see when you interpret a chart? Take me through your process.
When I first look at a chart I look at the whole picture of the planets in a 360 degree circle in signs which are in houses and are making aspects at each other. The gestalt. I see that first and before my analytical mind starts thinking, I start thinking things, or feeling things from the subconscious. Hard to say how that works.
It would be easier if you could paint a picture.
Alright, let me use Donald Trump’s birth chart as an example of this here phenomenon I’m talking about
The first thing that jumps out at me from his chart is Mars rising in Leo. It makes a lot of sense for Trump because that right there is the signature of his bombastic style. The way that he came into the debates. I’ve seen his chart before, and I think that he’s a dominant Mars type. Which means fiery. There’s a fire emphasis in his chart, also with his Moon being singled out visually in the chart, and it’s on the South Node, which we were talking about in the last article. So, Trump has this lunar inheritance, which I think is seen in his off-the-cuff, speak-his-mind quality. And emotional. But emotional in a fire sense, and an instinctive sense of business and politics. It shows a nascent quality of someone who is not completely formed. His Saturn in Cancer emphasizes this. It’s like this lumpy quality of someone not very tightly wrapped together. Saturn represents togetherness and in the sign of Cancer is in detriment.
The feeling I get from Trump as a person is that he was born with a tough-minded business sense but he was also born with this little boy quality, sort of that gaggling little boy quality, not quite fully formed or together. He had a long period of nascence of childhood, which is what the Moon indicates on South Node and Saturn in Cancer. But this overweening confidence and brashness and aggressiveness at the same time, seemingly unjustified, but I think it’s also because…what I’m saying is it took him a long time to become who he was, it took him a long time to achieve dignity. A dignified bearing that he has now. It’s because of a weak Saturn in the sign of the Moon (Cancer) and a strong overdeveloped Moon at South Node. Jupiter is ruling his Sagittarius South Node and Moon, and is in the second house of money. It would be easy to point to this and say that he was born into money or inheritance.
Interestingly, since I was talking about the North and South Nodes of the Moon in the last installment, Trump’s chart is a great example of someone who has both ends of the nodal axis strong. IOW, it’s very strong in his chart. He has the Moon at the South Node as I was saying, and then on the other end he has the Sun, so it’s kinda like night and day, just in stark relief.
His Sagittarius Moon on the South Node shows that win, win, win positive thinking mindset which Trump developed from a young age. Nothing can get a Sagittarius moon down. Nothing. They always bounce back. I’m sure this came in quite handy to him for the whole time he was attacked in his first term (by the media) and to this day. It’s a clownish moon. Kinda ENTP. Is this a joke?
I think what a lot of people saw in him was that baby side of him, that not-together, extemporaneous side that was full of misplaced fire. They weren’t sure that he could handle the job, they weren’t sure that he was anything but a joke.
The Sun in the birth chart is all about who you are becoming, who you are meant to be, and it shows the hero’s journey. The way I see this in Trump’s chart is that he came from being a little entitled baby, to fighting (Mars rising) his way all the way to the top of the world. He became a hero.
Trump’s Gemini Sun on the North Node is his knack for the media. Gemini is media and communications. His destiny and luck are here. A big part of his campaign was about fake news. Challenging the media.
I should also say the other thing Trump has with his Sun with North Node is that Uranus is also there in conjunction with both of them. This is like the style that Trump evolved, and it has been very fortunate for him, becoming that lightning bolt from beyond. Nobody knows what he’s gonna say next. That’s what the outer planet Uranus symbolizes, it’s like divine transmission of knowledge from beyond, suddenly, and nobody knows where it came from. I think this is part of the secret to Trump’s success, I mean, especially when he came into the 2016 debates. He was the one person there that was talking outside the whole dialectic, which is why he was successful. That’s Uranian. Just a lightning bolt and everyone is like wtf. Think he’s a joke, but due to it being connected with the North Node, I think this is partly why it was successful to employ this strategy, and I think it is something that Trump learned to employ, because I don’t think he started out like that, quite the opposite, He was in his father’s line. And I think that a large part of his hero’s journey was breaking out of that line and developing real estate in Manhattan, flashy real estate: Trump Tower. And did I mention flash, yeah, Trump has the gaudy flashy quality, it’s sorta cheesy but it became really cool over time as he developed into his mature expression.
This is the beginning of how I interpret an astrological birth chart from a no-bullshit 80/20 perspective.
What do you think is the key to Trump’s chart?
If I were to make an astrology course in the future, what would you dear readers like to see in it?
